Awareness, Education, Advocacy + EQUALITY

The Foundation of the NLA (Foundation) added “Equality” as one of our core values on June 3, 2020.

In light of the social injustice sweeping black communities across the country, and acknowledging a persisting issue of healthcare disparities among people of color in the US, the Foundation is committed to doing our part to reduce information poverty and healthcare inequality, and to foster Equality, Inclusion, and Diversity at every level of our organization through:

  • Understanding the health education needs of marginalized communities
  • Advocating for equal access to the highest quality healthcare services, education, and resources
  • Utilizing a patient-focused approach in all services and offerings
  • Making a concerted effort to overcome health outcomes disparities by focusing delivery of resources in rural, underserved, and underinsured communities across the country
  • Providing our resources in multiple languages for non-English-speaking patients and caregivers
  • Creating educational resources that can be used by patients at all literacy levels
  • Collaborating with like-minded partners who are committed to upholding the values of equality, inclusivity, and diversity
  • Encouraging diversity and inclusivity among our leadership
  • Requiring our leaders to uphold the values of equality, inclusivity, and diversity
